Tucked away in the hills of Tuscarawas county lies the quaint village of Zoar, Ohio.
Zoar was settled in 1817 by a group of German Separatists seeking refuge from the State Church of Germany. Firm in their beliefs, they followed the advice of a woman spiritualist who spoke to them of a place they should settle in America. This began the long 92 day journey for them across the ocean, through the forests on the untamed wilderness and finally to the area they settled and made their own.
