The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, constructed between 1858 and 1881, is the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America, and is purportedly the second largest in the world, next to the Kremlin. 242,000 square feet, over 900 doors, and miles of hallways to explore in its 4 levels.
Weston State Hospital, was a Kirkbride style psychiatric hospital that operated from 1864 until its closing in 1994 The first patient was admitted in 1864, a female housekeeper from Ohio said to suffer from domestic trouble.
