Join author and paranormal investigator, Sherri Brake, as she shares with you this area's dark history, ghostly tales and folklore. Sherri is the author of 8 published books on the paranormal and travels extensively for her Haunted Heartland Tours. She is a monthly columnist with Two Lane Livin' and Graffiti, both popular magazines in West Virginia and has worked on various television shows showcasing the paranormal and haunted history.
You walking tour last 90 minutes and will feature various stops in historic downtown Summersville. This walk is not handicap/stroller accessible due to uneven terrain and steps. Bring small flashlights for our cemetery stop. Cameras are permitted.
* Hear about the dangerous Confederate rebel Nancy Hart, local Indian massacres, legendary ghost stories and when we stop at the cemetery, learn about gravestone symbols, Victorian Mourning, fear of being buried alive (it happened!) and odd burial customs.
* Learn the ancient art of dowsing and learn to find unmarked graves and spirit energy.
* Use ghosthunting meters to help detect energy (we supply a few for the group to use)
* Learn the signs of paranormal activity, how to take good spirit photos and how to spot fake ones
Where do we meet? We meet at the Nicholas County Courthouse located at 700 Main St in Summersville, WV. Please arrive 15 minutes before we start. Parking on the street is free. Dress is casual. Wear good walking shoes and bring a small flashlight and an umbrella is it looks like rain. We walk in rain, snow or shine!
