Our prison adventure begins in Moundsville at 11:45 PM as we enter the gothic fortress that spans nearly 10 acres.

This mammoth building opened up for its first prisoners in 1866. The very first execution took place in 1899 with the end total of 85 being hanged and 9 being electrocuted in the "chair". The doors to the prison were officially closed in 1995. The Penitentiary has been named to the National Register of Historic Places and is being utilized for historical and educational tours. Numerous ghost hunts and tours have taken place throughout the years as well. This prison was also featured on MTV's FEAR, the Sci Fi Channels 'Ghosthunters' show, Ghost Adventures, ABC's Worlds Most Scariest Places as well as several other TV programs. We will view some of these movies on our bus trip down.

Sherri Brake has been a paranormal consultant for 2 shows that have filmed at the WV Pen. TAPS Ghosthunters in 2006 and Paranormal State in 2009. She has explored the WV Pen since 2004 and taken 1000s of people thru its shadowy hallways. Sherri is also the Pen Paranormal Class instructor. (see more on classes here)

WHAT TO BRING:
All cameras, FLASHLIGHTS, EMF meters, video, dowsing rods, tape recorders for EVP , equipment, etc. are welcome at this unique excursion. Dress for the weather and in layers. There is no heat/AC in this building except for the main lobby/museum area.
WHAT NOT TO BRING:
NO OUIJA BOARDS PLEASE.

Please note: You must be able to walk and do some steps to participate in this event. There are no sleeping accommodations. If you get tired, there are benches in the lobby and we can also let you go out to the bus to snooze if need be. This is a hard core ghosthunt..... hence the use of the adjective XTREME!
