The Whipple Company Store in the Coal mining "heyday" provided everything the coal miner and his family would need. Although the Company Store had its benefits to the coal miner, it did not go without reputation. The coal companies owned the homes, the goods, the homes, the miner, and their money. Experience the hand-operated elevator, see the secret second floor, the ballroom, and explore a creepy basement area! Whipple Company Store was designed by the Coal Baron,Justus Collins who built 4 of these structures. This is the only one left standing today.

Come to our investigation, bring cameras, digital voice recorders and enjoy hearing the history of the building. Learn how to use the tools of a ghosthunter properly and hunt on your own. Explore the building after our tour and see what you can find for yourself!

9 miles from the famous New River Gorge Bridge

Take Mossy exit (Route 612 west)

Whipple Co. Store is 1/2 mile off Route 19

From Route 19: (traveling North)

From I 64/I 77

Take the North Beckley exit.(Route 19)

in approx.6 miles take the Mossy exit.

Route 612 west.

From Interstate 77 and Interstate 64

Take Mossy Exit #60 off I-77

Follow Route 612 east 8 miles. (this is a rural area)
